Win $1,000 Cash & Snag Our Top Rated Student Credit Card

Is $1,000 falling from the heavens a blessing or a curse?

When I think of the trouble I might have gotten into as a freshmen after winning’s Student Budget Refresh Contest – well, I get a bit of a smile on my face and a shiver down my spine!  Whether you use the thousand bucks for good or… not-quite-noble pursuits is up to you.  Maybe the best of both worlds?

The way to get your name in the hat is to head on over to RateHub and check out what ScotiaBank’s SCENE or L’EARN credit cards have to offer.  Here’s a quick look at why these two cards are at the top of our list when it comes to student reward options – with a $0 annual fee of course.

  • 4,000 SCENE points the first time you use the card – enough for 4 FREE movies!
  • 1 SCENE point for every dollar you put on the card.
  • 5 SCENE points for every dollar you spend at Cineplex Theatres
  • 1 SCENE point per dollar you spend at SportChek + you can use 1,000 SCENE points to take $10 off a SportChek purchase.
  • Get 100 bonus points every time you see a movie at a Cineplex Theatre.
  • Enjoy 10% off of snacks at participating Cineplex locations.
  • 99% annual interest rate.

  • Up to 1% of your purchases automatically go back to you in cold hard cash!
  • Simple, Easy, Money Back for What You Want.
  • 99% annual interest rate.

Our prerequisite for any student credit card that we recommend is that it have no annual fee – students pay enough as it is.  Both of these card option meet that standard and give you some great rewards as well – just for using the card to pay for things you’d buy anyway.

As always, remember that using your credit card to build a credit rating and cash in on cool rewards only works if you pay your balance off monthly.  ALWAYS, make the minimum required payment, and do your best not to put anything on your credit card that you can’t afford to pay off at the end of the month.

See you at the movies! (If you win the Grand Prize we’re definitely game to help you celebrate!)
